Iconic Gay Rainbow Flag

The rainbow flag made its first outing in 1978 at the Gay Freedom Day Parade, as a tribute to the Stonewall Rebellion in New York.

When police raided a gay bar they had no idea it would become a 5-day epic that attracted massive media attention and the way gays were treated before the uprising. Today we can thank these brave hearts for opening the gates to more acceptance of gay rights and the visibility of homophobic harassment by people in power. Change never comes easy when humans go against the vibration of prejudice which often arrives with cruelty—setting the tone for this symbolic flag in recognition of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders.

‘I align with the pride of the LGBT community with an attitude of respect, love, and honor for her diverse grandeur’

An honorable place of autonomy and the difference between allowing external influences to rain on my free-spirited parade’ From here we rise in stature and accept there will always be humans not in agreeance—people who see their gay light as out of alignment with society’s stern boundary lines. Who cast the first stone is anyone’s guess as the lines of bias are drawn.  The gay flag fuels the flames of hope. Hope for a world less discriminate. And that’s a foreign language for many stuck in the groove of hate.

We are no different in how we live and love. We are not a sin or something so Godly wrong. I feel its beauty, transparency, and light for who I am—a gay woman who flies the flag of unity for all people who inhabit this earth.

Our time here is precious and better spent getting along. Let’s spark the change needed to bring peace to a divided world. Separatism starts min-fights of racism, prejudice, and blatant dislikes for the way people honor their life – God and the partner they may love from an ancient past life. When standing in our truth we elevate to a stance of legitimacy. The soul’s desire to experience life as a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender being. And how beautiful life can be when we are willing to announce our existence with joyful and playful intent. Those who cannot forgive our romantic ways are the humans who stand in the dark of intolerance—the memory of teachings drilled into the minds of our ancestors and those who came before. Carrying the flag of love brings faith to gay lightness and belief in same-sex marriage and love.
